What are the advantages?

Often, during significant weight loss, the skin on the thighs becomes flabby. Lifting refines and lifts the thighs by eliminating distended skin on the upper part of the leg.

Is it for me?

Thigh lift can improve your physical appearance and self-confidence. However, it does not change the relationships you have with others. Before opting for this intervention, clarify your expectations and discuss them with Dre Duclos. She will be happy to answer clearly and precisely all your questions and to inform you about the most appropriate treatments for your situation. telling you their advantages and disadvantages. If you plan to lose significant weight, it may be best to delay surgery.

What techniques are used?

Thigh lift involves removing excess skin and fat from the thighs. The location of the incision varies from the groin to the inner thigh depending on the case. Occasionally, the lift is combined with liposuction on the thighs and knees.

What should I expect?

During the consultation, Dr. Duclos will assess your state of health, the quantity and quality of the skin, the quantity and location of the fat on your thighs. She will then be able to recommend the most appropriate surgical technique, with or without liposuction on the thighs and knees. She will tell you the exact location of the incisions, explain the risks inherent to the procedure, give you information on its progress, generally under regional (epidural) or general anesthesia, and give you pre- and post-operative instructions.

Before the operation, you will need to obtain an anti-embolism sheath and stockings for the day of the operation. The morning of the procedure, you will need to put on the anti-embolism stockings when you get up.

The duration of the intervention depends on its extent. You will then be under observation until your condition allows you to leave the clinic. A prescription for pain medication, instructions and the date of the next appointment will be given to you before your departure. Plan to ask someone to drive you home.

After the procedure, the pain is generally of moderate intensity and is well relieved with the prescribed medication. They usually fade after two to three days.

You will need to keep the dressing and the sheath until your follow-up visit, taking care not to get them wet (Dre Duclos will tell you when you can take a shower). It may be useful to purchase a urinal from the pharmacy, which will prevent your sheath from getting wet and dirty. You will need to wear your girdle all the time for the first two weeks, then ten hours a day for the next two weeks.

You will need to walk regularly and move your calves to reduce the risk of thrombophlebitis. You will need to avoid intense physical activity for a month and avoid exposing the scars to sunlight or tanning salon rays for about 6 months.

What are the risks?

The risks are low. Bleeding, infection, poor healing, and opening of wounds may occur. Temporary loss of skin sensitivity may occur and, on rare occasions, may be permanent. Necrosis can affect the skin due to a lack of vascularity. Occasionally, thrombophlebitis (clot in a vein in the leg or thigh) occurs and, more rarely, a pulmonary embolism which can lead to death.
