Approved for sale in 2004, Juvederm quickly became a top recommendation of doctors across Canada and the United States. It is made from hyaluronic acid, a naturally occuring sugar in the body that combines with the water already in the skin to smooth away lines. Over time and with exposure to the environment and other harmful conditions, our bodies lose the ability to produce hyaluronic acid. Gravity then takes it toll: the skin loses volume, and wrinkles and folds appear. Juvederm injects new hyaluronic acid into the skin, smoothing away lines and wrinkles, improving lips and replenishing lost volume in the cheeks and jaw line.
