Placement of breast prosthesis via lower hemi-areolar approach
24 August 2015These three techniques allowing to increase the size of your breast present each of the strengths and limitations, such as the size of the scar, the post-operative pain or the positioning of the implant, It is therefore useful to contact a cosmetic surgeon to find out more.
What is the inframammary route?
We are talking here about the fold located at the base of the breast which is not visible when standing. the scar will be located in the submammary fold, therefore at the birth of the chest.
Advantages of this surgical technique
The great discretion of the scar is the main advantage regarding aesthetic criteria.
Similar to the areola technique, the breast implant can be placed with millimeter precision and brings total satisfaction from the positioning.
The introduction of the implant turns out to be less aggressive since it passes behind the mammary gland without crossing it.
This procedure reduces the space between the two breasts by ideally bringing the implants closer together.
Limits of this operation
Unlike the axillary route, if you are a smoker, we do not advise you to introduce the implant via the inframammary route because it will be vulnerable in the event of problems and difficulties during the healing.
Also, and unlike when standing, the scar will be more visible when you are lying down.
To summarize:
- Very small scar
- Invisible scar standing
- Scar more visible when lying down
- Easy access implant
- Positionable to the nearest millimeter
- Less aggressive operation for the breast
- Reduces the space between the two breasts
Implant vulnerable if you have healing problems if you are a smoker
It is possible to perform a breast implant operation in three ways:
- by axillary route (scar under the armpit),
- through the areola (at the nipple) or even
- with an inframammary passage with a scar under the breast.
